The Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association (HKFDA) was founded in 1984 by a group of successful and enthusiastic local fashion designers. As a non-profit making and self-financed organization, it aims to unite fashion designers, with both professionalism and expertise, to develop and better both their careers and the industry within and beyond the territory.
With supports from the industry and fellow designers in the past 34 years, the Association has evolved to a key platform to share ideas and experiences through organizing fashion events such as catwalk shows, seminars, interviews and group discussions. Reputed as an official unit of Hong Kong fashion elites who provides excellent services with expertise and hence is recognized as one of the leading fashion institutions in the region of Hong Kong SAR, Mainland China and other cities in the South Pacific region.
Besides the two most renowned and recognized events held previously; The 10 Best Dressed Personalities Award and The Gala Fashion Show, HKFDA had initiated many special projects with the support from CreateHK in recent years.
The "Fashion Visionaries 2010" in Shanghai was one of the highlights of the HKSAR program for World Expo 2010, Shanghai. Riding on its success was the staging of “Fashion Visionaries 2011” Exhibition and Show at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.
In 2012, the Association co-organized a Guinness World Record breaker, “The World’s Greatest Catwalk 2012” with the Danish Fashion Institute, held in iconic Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade with the Victoria Harbour as a backdrop. In 2016, HKFDA organized the "Fashion Mirage" Show in Centre Stage followed by the "UNZIP Creativity Hong Kong Fashion in Taipei 2016" at Huashan 1914 Creative Park, Taipei as one of the highlights of Hong Kong Week.
"JUXTAPOSED Fashion x Music 2017" took place at Tamar Park to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. Staged at an impressive setting with the night view of Victoria Harbour as its backdrop, works from 80 Hong Kong renowned and young fashion designers paraded in the show together with live music by various local and overseas music performers. By fusing and combining fashion with music, JUXTAPOSED created a dynamic interaction to cross inspire and to spark both industries and their creative talents, further generated the interests and awareness of the creativity of Hong Kong culture and designs. It was surely a notable and fantastic collaboration, a true celebration of Hong Kong style and culture.
香港時裝設計師協會(協會)成立於1984年，是一個屬於自負盈虧的非弁利機構。其創辦人均是成就出眾的資深時裝設計師，不但對時裝設計充滿熱誠並付于力行，為推動本地時裝設計而創辦本協會；藉此凝聚時裝界精英，發揮業界力量。協會自創辦至今已三十四載，承蒙業界和設計師的支持得以不斷成長和進步。
過去多年，在業界和設計師會員的支持下，協會已發展成為一個重要平臺，每年均舉辦各類時裝表演活動、專業講座、設計師專訪、和研討會等，讓業界和設計師分享資訊和經驗。協會不僅代表著一群提供專業優質服務的香港時裝界精英，更積極與不同機構和團隊攜手合作推動業界發展，因此被公認香港具領導地位的時裝機構之一，與其他主要機構和團體攜手推動設計業。與此同時，協會在中國和亞太區亦肩負推動香港時裝設計的任務，從而協助、成就本土時裝設計師於本土與海外的發展。
除了最廣為人知的「十大傑出時裝．視野大獎」及「周年時裝匯演」，近年協會更在創意香港支持下，舉辦多項特別項目。
協會於2010年上海舉行的「香港．時裝視野」展覽，為香港特區政府在上海世界博覽會的其中一項重點活動之一，是次展覽內容包括香港時裝的發展歷史、成就及前景，涵蓋了時裝工業界及學術界等的成就。另外亦有展出由香港美術及形象指導為電影及影星度身設計之衣飾。
上海世博舉行之展覽獲得空前成功，協會獲得商務及經濟發展局其下之創意香港贊助，將「香港．時裝視野」展覽移師至香港文化博物館舉行。開幕典禮之同時，協會更頒發「傑出時裝視野」獎項及舉辨周年匯演，超過30位設計師會員展出特別為活動主題設計及製作的時裝作品。
2012年再度獲創意香港之邀，攜手丹麥時裝協會舉辦「世界時尚天橋之最2012」，邀請了超340位模特兒參與展示了逾200位香港及丹麥設計師之設計服飾，更刷新了世界健力士記錄，成為國際時尚界熱話。2016年創意香港繼續贊助本會，為貿發局舉辦之全新時裝業界推廣專案「CENTRESTAGE」舉辦一場大型匯演，展示了50位本地設計師之精彩作品。同年，協會更代表香港時裝業界，於臺北舉行之「香港周」舉辦為期一個月之「UNZIP創意 香港時裝風尚．臺北2016」大型展覽，帶領超過60位香港設計師于臺北華山1914文化創意產業園上演華麗的時裝匯演及舉行「傑出時裝視野」頒獎禮，星光熠熠盛況空前。
2017年6月30日舉行之「慶祝香港回歸祖國二十周年文藝晚會」，協會更獲邀為晚會策劃時裝表演，邀請了10位時裝設計師精心打造華麗與藝術俱備的服飾，上演了一場以時裝來展現香港文化特色的演出，獲得各界熱烈讚賞。此外，協會更於同年呈獻了大型時尚與音樂家跨界匯演 JUXTAPOSED Fashion x Music 2017，獲得空前成功。
